Charlap Hyman Herrero

Wit, Rigor and Diversity

There are always rising stars in the design world, but only occasionally do talents have a meteoric ascent. Adam Charlap Hyman and Andre Herrero are among that rare group. Since establishing their bicoastal firm, Charlap Hyman Herrero, in 2014, they have spun out interiors, buildings, stage sets, stores and products (including whimsical rugs for Schumacher) with a speed verging on the supersonic. If their projects are wide-ranging, what they all share is the wow factor, as exemplified by Charlap Hyman’s own Manhattan living room here. The mixing of a 1972 Klaus Uredat modular sofa and a rare 1969 Nicola L. l’Oeil floor lamp with a 17th-century Aubusson tapestry encapsulates the duo’s unconventional, yet oh-so-sophisticated design sensibility. “I feel that when you love every single thing in a room, there is nothing that won’t work,” says Charlap Hyman.
