Whether jewels are worth more than diamonds varies. The price of a diamond depends on its color, clarity, carat weight and cut. Rare-colored gemstones, such as alexandrites, emeralds, sapphires and rubies, may be worth more than a similarly sized diamond if the diamond is of low quality.
