Did Belk used to be called Belks?

1 Answer
Did Belk used to be called Belks?
No, Belk did not used to be called Belks. However, some people do call the store by that name to this day. When founded in 1888 by William Henry Belk, the name of the store was New York Ratchet. Belk renamed the store Belk Brothers in 1891, when his brother John Belk became a partner in the business. In 1998, the company dropped “Brothers” from the name.
