How can you tell the difference between pottery and porcelain?

The difference between pottery and porcelain is that one is a broad term, and the other is a specific material. Pottery is the general term for any items made out of earthenware. Porcelain is one type of pottery. To produce it, artisans use refined clay and fire pieces at extremely high temperatures, making it extremely hard.
