How did Salvador Dalí influence Surrealism?

1 Answer
How did Salvador Dalí influence Surrealism?
Salvador Dalí influenced Surrealism by creating works that represent the workings of the unconscious mind. He used hyperrealism in conveying Surrealist symbols and concepts that subverted accepted notions of reality, inspiring other artists in the movement to employ similar techniques. Dalí deployed dreamlike images drawn from the depths of the unconscious in paintings, sculptures, prints and fashion, as well as in film collaborations with Luis Buñuel and Alfred Hitchcock. Today, he is one of the most well-known icons of the 20th-century avant-garde Surrealist movement due to these contributions. Explore a diverse assortment of Salvador Dalí art on 1stDibs.
