What is a field photograph?

A “field photograph” may refer to the concept of Depth of Field (DoF), which is controlled by the lens aperture diameter. A deep depth of field means that all near and far objects are in focus. With narrow depth, only a small part of the image is in focus, and with a shallow depth of field, the emphasis is on just the aspect of your photo that you want to highlight.
