What is the history of Montblanc watches?

The history of Montblanc watches began in 1997 when the luxury German maker launched its first collection of watches. Its original manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland, unveiled new designs in the following years, including its rectangular Profile collection in 2002 and its TimeWalker series in 2003. In 2007, Montblanc completed the purchase of Minerva, a Swiss watchmaker founded in 1858. The company quickly assimilated the technologies and traditions of its new acquisition and, by 2008, had begun to produce its own movements in-house. Today, Montblanc's designers draw heavily from Minerva's heritage, taking inspiration from its timepieces for its Star Legacy, 1858, Bohème and Heritage collections.
