Who made EBEL watches has varied over the years. Initially, EBEL was an independent company founded by husband-and-wife team Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, in 1911. The company's name is actually an acronym for their names: Eugène Blum and Lévy. The couple's son and grandson both helmed the company at various times during the 20th century before LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton bought EBEL in 1999.
