About the Item
Title: Frammento Casa V.
Technique: Mineral oxide (pure pigment) on paper
Dimensions: 50x70 cm
Description: A unique artwork on paper, created with mineral oxide, a natural material that represents the fusion of art and matter. Frammento is a poetic exploration of fragility and transformation, evoking the connection between time, nature, and memory. The artwork reveals traces of logos and landscapes, blending into an abstract and evocative narrative.
This is a one-of-a-kind, non-reproducible piece, accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity. The artwork can be provided framed and ready to hang. It has been published in the catalog Lo Spazio Fragile by Marilina Marchica.
About the Artist:
Marilina Marchica was born in Agrigento in 1984, where she currently lives and works. She graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Her artistic research delves into the themes of subtraction and the aesthetics of the sign, using architecture and walls as metaphors for the relationships between humans, nature, and time.
Through fragments and discarded materials, her works explore the dialogue between form and matter, often pushing the boundaries of abstraction. Marilina has held solo exhibitions at the FAM Gallery in Agrigento, San Sebastiano Contemporary in Palazzolo Acreide, Spazio HUS in Milan, and the Brodbeck Foundation.
Her notable participations include the second edition of the FAM Prize and an artist residency at Villa Aurea in the Valley of the Temples. Her works are part of collections in Italy and abroad, including the Museum of Mediterranean Wefts and the Chiaramonte Factories in Agrigento.
Marilina’s poetics are deeply rooted in the memory of place, reflecting on the fragility of matter and its connection to human experience. Using techniques like casting, frottage, and collage, she captures the essence of abandoned spaces, transforming them into ephemeral landscapes. In her work, the fragment becomes a metaphor for rupture and turbulence, offering new perspectives on dwelling and the relationship between humans and the environment.

Marilina Marchica
Marilina Marchica (Agrigento, 1984) lives and works in Agrigento. She trained at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where she graduated in Painting. He has participated in several exhibitions on national and international territory. In addition to the solo shows at the FAM Gallery in Agrigento, the A Sud Arte Contemporanea gallery in Realmonte, Spazio Hus Milano and the site-specific exhibition for the crypt of the Church of Santa Maria del Piliere in Palermo, we remember his participation in the FAM Prize of the Chiaramontane Factories of Agrigento and at the artist's residence in Villa Aurea - Valle dei Templi, curated by the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage of Agrigento. His works have been published in art magazines and volumes including "The New Collectors Book", edited by Basak Malone (New York, 2015). Her painting tells of the relationship between man, nature and time, the landscape, the sign and the trace, through the stripping, reduction and subtraction of figurative elements.
"my landscapes are" boxes "of memories,
day after day they welcome events and individuals who leave their marks and change their boundaries and appearance "
The aesthetics of the "Sign" in Marilina Marchica's pictorial production starts from a research on architecture
the wall as a diaphragm between inside and outside
this takes on a strong symbolic value for the artist, crystallizes collapses and demolitions, freeing them from oblivion and placing them in a universal dimension that alludes to life and its seasons.
This cyclical and dynamic trend, on the other hand, tends to expand in the "Landscapes" to take on an expanded dimension that aligns itself on the geographical horizons, evoked by a vision of reality bordering on abstraction.
