Miniature landscape with two cows in the foreground, signed "J.M. Myall 1910." One cow sits on the ground of a rolling hill, while another stands next to it. One tree with white bark stands to the right of cows. Another large tree is seen in the distance, intersecting the horizon line. The cows are rendered with fine-line details and delicate brushstrokes, contrasting with the open and impressionistic flair given to the trees and the horizon.
Signed and dated "J.M. Myall /1910" in lower right corner, covered by the mat.

Stellman moved to CA in 1901. By 1920 he had settled in San Francisco where he worked both as an artist and a writer for the Call-Bulletin newspaper. He later moved to the Monterey Peninsula where he remained until his death. Married to artist Edith K. Stellman (1877-1957). Works held: de Young Legion of Honor.
