Trained under Filip Månsson in Stockholm, Gothenburg-born Brocke Bluckert was a distinguished Swedish painter and decorative artist whose public commissions included murals in Stockholm’s Rådhus, the Swedish Church in Paris, and the Röhsska Museum’s Architecture Hall. Known for combining meticulous technique with atmospheric storytelling, he often drew inspiration from Nordic myth. This rare 1937 composition depicts the legendary water spirit Nack poised upon diamond-like rocks in the depths of the sea, its delicate pen line and luminous washes of watercolour heightened with opaque body colour to create a scene of haunting elegance.
