About the Item
The series of works "Visual Diaries" represents drawings on paper, featuring expressive abstractions or figurations created daily by the artist. Each work’s title includes the creation date and the sequence number of works completed that day (e.g., "3rd out of 6 works completed on that day"). Remeikytė studied graphic design and playfully references the numbering system of pastels, echoing limited edition print conventions just for fun—to reflect her intense, high-volume working process. Though each piece remains unique. Some of these paper works serve as initial designs, later becoming prototypes for larger textile pieces handmade using the tufting gun.
Artist name and work title is written on the bottom of the work.
The young generation artist Diana Remeikytė is today better known not in Lithuania but abroad. Her large-format textile works as well as watercolours have been exhibited in Rome, Madrid, Erfurt, and San Francisco. Remeikyte's thread paintings are created using the tufting technique, which combines smart weaving and embroidery. The prototype of the textile work is a drawing on paper, an expressive abstraction or figuration. Many of Remeikyte's works have been acquired by the MO Museum, Vilnius, Lithuania.
