He began painting at the age of four, drawing the dancer Ana Pavlova during her visit to Uruguay. He worked in newspapers and magazines drawing scenes of ballet, football, horse racing and themes related to the gaucho . There are large murals of his creation in many public offices in Uruguay, such as AFE , National Library , Pluna , Fuerte de San Miguel , Intendencia de Maldonado , etc. He published several books with his paintings and images of him have become popular and reproduced in various media. He illustrated works on Martín Fierro , Santos Vega , Los Tacuruses de Serafín J. García . In 1950, the Kraft publishing house of Buenos Aires published an inventory of his published works. For several years he made in bronze the prizes awarded by the Jockey Club in the José Pedro Ramírez Grand Prix , the highest equestrian competition in Uruguay. He also performed special work for Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain . His paintings and murals exist at the University of Austin ( Texas ), the headquarters of the United Nations , and numerous private and public collections.

He studied at a cartoon school in San Francisco and the California School of Fine Arts. Instructors included Maynard Dixon, Harold Von Schmidt and Clarence Mackey, leading artists of the day. At the age of 17, he began his love affair with the sea, taking his first voyage on the Annie Johnson, destined for Hawaii. At 19 he shipped out for the East Coast aboard the freighter, Artiagas, and worked up and down the coast until friends were instrumental in getting him a job as an apprentice cartoonist with Hearst's King Features. He was with the newspaper for 37 years. Thirty-one were spent drawing the Annie Rooney cartoon. McClure’s work is held in numerous collections nationwide, many paintings are on display at the Kelley House, Mendocino, Mateo, NC,the San Juan Islands and the San Francisco Yacht...

plowing with oxen oil on board painting Spain
By Juan Soler
Located in Sitges, Barcelona
Oil measures 30x30 cm. Frame measures 52x52 cm. He was born in 1951. Under the direction of the teacher Pedro Bermejo, he began his artistic career, quickly standing out and observing in his works an unusual mastery of drawing. A highly mature painter who has known how to stop time in all his works. His themes are preferably costumbrist, although in his work it is usual to see 18th century themes, with horse carriages, hats, umbrellas and still lifes. Observing his work reminds us, due to the theme, of Maestro Palmero...
