About the Item

Acrylic on Cartridge paper Fabia Kleinpeter, a German self-taught multidisciplinary artist born in 2000 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. She began her artistic journey in 2019 in the South of France under a star-filled night sky. It was a specific constellation of eight stars, uniquely shaped like a butterfly, that first sparked her creativity. From that moment, her pen became an unstoppable instrument, laying the groundwork for her eventual shift to canvas painting in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she has been based since 2020. In her works, she uses acrylic or oil paints with the aid of a spatula, creating vibrant, fluid abstractions that explore the interface between personal thought and collective memory. Her distinct approach to a black-and-white palette is designed to challenge perception, expanding the viewer's imagination by evoking three- dimensional depth. Her creative process was significantly refined following advice from fellow painter Luka Japaridze, who encouraged Fabia to translate her outstanding drawing style from paper to large canvases. The result was the monumental piece "Indikator" (2m x 1.8m), a significant milestone in her work. Beyond her paintings, DJIMBA uses video to complement her musical compositions, reflecting her passion for diverse modes of expression. Her art is driven by a central theme: the profound human need for connection, a thread that weaves through all of her creative endeavors. Her growing reputation is supported by several accomplishments, including an exhibition series named Mirrorhall and Mirrorhall II. in NewPlatform Georgia, such as a solo exhibition at the ArtMuse gallery in Tbilisi and the sale of a painting of the “Marao-Mosaik- series” to the artist community Nos-Revolution in Marseille, as well as the painting “In the bush jungle” to Café Nilo in Tbilisi. Recognition for her work extends to her hometown of Kraichtal near Karlsruhe, where she was featured on the cover of the “Kraichtalbote” newspaper and interviewed about her international career. Following that same interview, an additional article was published in the regional newspaper “Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung.” This was followed a year later by a second publication honoring her musical successes, vindicating her local relevance. These successes underscore the international appeal and recognition of her work. In her artworks, DJIMBA captures the fluid energy that lingers between visible colors—reminiscent of flowing lava within a volcano. Her canvases serve as portals into a cognitive sphere, inviting viewers to project their own consciousness and inhabit these abstract landscapes as an immersive, "offline" virtual world.

Untitled #1 - Emmanuelle Messika, 21st Century, Abstract drawing

Coloured inks and pastel on paper Signed Gestural abstraction Outsider art Artist’s statement : "Painting, for me, is an expressive endeavor in which one depicts the evolution of the various facets of the artistic self. There is, on each canvas, a tension where violence and stillness naturally coexist. By playing with different materials, I seek to establish a sort of unexpected dialogue between these states, and aspire to express this tension through profusion of color. The canvas is the stage that allows me to unite narration with the action of painting the fantastic—even the outrageous---and the everyday. I develop scenarios borrowed from the imagination, which join fantasy, even fables, with the everyday. Pulling threads from each domain, I bring together the mythical and the quotidian, so that the worlds of reality and fantasy merge. I rely on “creatures,” improbable little characters that could exist in some other realm or dimension. They materialize, issuing forth from the surprising, unbelievable and wondrous world of childhood. Human or animal, both find themselves entangled in inextricable and melancholic situations. These inextricable situations create distance; the humor comes through this breach. It is the absurdity of their predicaments that manifests the humor in the work. In each of my paintings, the sentiments are heightened by an intentional, provocative tone that transforms the work. An Otherness is attributed to objects; objects become personified, and by their very presence, they become witnesses or guinea pigs torn between and bound to their dilemma. The titles of my paintings, whether invented or quotations taken out of context, come from literature, theater, or song lyrics. Accident and chance are often major actors in my work.” Emmanuelle Messika BIOGRAPHY : Emmanuelle Messika was born in France in 1979. She works and lives in Paris.
