About the Item
Danovich, Francis (American, 1920-1956). COMEDIA DEL ARTE - TWO
DRAWINGS. Ink on card, not dated, likely circa 1940-50. Initialed
in ink within the image within the image, and with the stamp of
the artist's estate, verso. 4 3/4 x 1 1/2 inches (images) 9 x 7
1/8 inches, and 8 x 6 inches (sheets). One mounted to card, else
both in excellent condition.
Danovich was from Michigan and attended Cranbrook Institute. In
1939, While he was a student, he painted a mural for the Dental
School at the University of Michigan, which was later covered
over, and then eventually rediscovered and restored. He worked in
Michigan and in New Jersey.
