The stylised figures are rendered in rich, opaque colour, reflecting the artist’s deep engagement with spiritual themes and monumental form.
Hans Feibusch, born in Frankfurt and later a naturalised British citizen, was one of the most important muralists working in post-war Britain. Trained in Germany and influenced by Expressionism, Feibusch fled Nazi persecution and found a new artistic identity in England. Championing large-scale public art, he completed over forty murals in churches and civic buildings across the UK. His work was supported by figures such as Bishop George Bell and John Betjeman, and he played a pivotal role in the revival of religious art in the 20th century.
