Pino della Selva (pseudonym of Pino Giuffrida ) is a painter, sculptor , designer and engraver ( etching and woodcut ), also poet and art critic , born on January 3, 1904in Catania ( Sicily ), settled in Paris in 1931 (lived at 31, rue La Bruyère )died in 1987 in Paris. His pictorial work, which initially turned towards themes of a social nature ( Blind to Work in 1925, Workers in 1932) comparable to those of the French Édouard Pignon and André Fougeron, was then placed in the continuity of symbolism and surrealism , noting Gino Raya , in his monograph dedicated to our artist, a realistic pictorial profession in which you can feel the deformations prompted by the dream , even hallucinations .
