Renate Dollinger's vibrant gouache and watercolor paintings tell stories of life in the Shtetls - the villages of Eastern Europe where Jews lived. Born in a small town in the Silesian Alps in Germany, she managed to escape to London in 1939. As a refugee, she attended Reiman School of Art and the London Polytechnic Institute. In 1947 she joined her surviving sister in California, and began a 47-year painting career. The gouaches and watercolors of this noted artist are held in many collection in California and behind.
