"Kobe" is an original contemporary wall-hanging artwork by Sean 9 Lugo, known artistically for his gallery artwork, murals, and street art. The piece features the artist's signature bear-faced character paying tribute to both of Kobe Bryant's Lakers jersey numbers from his career. The figures are hand-drawn and painted with ink and acrylic. The piece was created on a decommissioned metal street sign, with a background of collaged newspaper and mixed media. Sean 9 Lugo‘s artwork is reflective of the diverse culture that surrounded him as a child growing up in Hudson County, N.J. with parents from Puerto Rico and Cuba. His street art is known for representing the duality of both Latin and American culture and experiences through masks that can either misconceive or stereotype perceptions.
