Signed bottom left by H. Reisner.
Charcoal with white heightening on grayish brown wove paper, 22 3/8 x 15 1/2 inches, the full sheet. Signed in black crayon in the lower left margin, and dated "Nov. 1908" in black crayon in the upper right margin. In good condition with multiple edge tears extending up to 2 1/2 inches into the sheet, yet outside of the image area. Scattered light toning throughout.
Franz Seraphicus Grillparzer was an Austrian writer who was considered to be the leading Austrian dramatist of the 19th century. His plays were and are frequently performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna.
