This vibrant watercolour with gouache by British painter William Harris Weatherhead (1843-1903) depicts a contemplative woman holding a rose. She sits against a backdrop of a serene lake surrounded by lush, verdant foliage. Weatherhead has rendered her elegant dress with particular attention to detail. Monogrammed and dated to the lower left. Well presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame. On paper.
