Fu’una’s “CAW” is a contemporary pastel painting of a great horned owl skull, trumpet creeper flowers, and lightning sun tulips. The work was created with soft pastel on 24 x 18 inch sanded paper. This painting is richly colored with burgundy, reds, and oranges, with teal highlights. In the background, the word “CAW” is written in bright pink calligraphic linework. The words are obscured behind the skull and flowers, acting more as a design element than an overt statement. This pastel is part of a series of drawings that combine flora and fauna like bouquets.
