About the Item

Automobilia - This advertising illustration captures the timeless Art Deco aesthetic while highlighting the historical significance of the Lincoln Nash. The luxury automobile was manufactured by now-defunct Nash Motors. The 1935 model year saw yet another complete restyling known as "Aeroform" with a further trimming of body styles. A new two-door sedan was added to the Ambassador Eight series. Besides it's historical connection to American automotive history, the appeal of this work lies in the dramatic spot lighting of the car set against a dark background. The artist masterfully rendered the figures in this product - and narrative-oriented work. It deserves a second and third glance and then a close-up study. Gouache and watercolour heightened with gum-arabic on very dark green card, annotated in pale ink with body type below, numbered ‘76’, in upper left corner, German copyright label on verso. [Berlin 1930] Finished in green with contrasting light green roof and matching solid disc wheels, presented against a silhouette of a grand palace, this imposing 4-door cabriolet was one of the more luxurious variant designs around the underpinnings of the company’s straight-8 engine and drive train. It evolved from the Single Eight, so-called as it replaced the earlier V-12 known as the Double Six.
