We note some traces of foxing on the right edge
Born in 1840 in Paris, first a student of his father, then of L. Cogniet and Guénepin at the École des Beaux-Arts, he also obtained his architect's diploma in 1864. He participated under the Second Empire in the transformation of Paris by Baron Haussmann by building many private mansions. In parallel with his career as an architect, he exhibited watercolor views of Paris and Florence at the Salon between 1868 and 1876. He also participated with his father in some works such as the project of Alfred Binant, in the restoration of the Galerie des Cerfs at the Château de Fontainebleau and very probably in the Panorama Philippoteaux. An interesting detail is represented on our watercolor at the bottom left: the presence of the flowers market which was located at this location on Boulevard Saint-Michel before being moved a little further to the current Place Reine Elisabeth II.
