French Barbizon School watercolour on paper view of a French village and stone bridge by a river by Henri Clamen. The painting is dated, 1939, and titled, 'Dinard' to the back of the paper, it is unsigned but was acquired from the artist's atelier with other signed works.
A charming view of a typical French village, Dinard, the fine buildings with high pitched rooves and chimney stacks, all nestling next to an ancient stone three span bridge crossing a river. Hills in the background are covered with lush green trees. The artist has created a wonderful perspective. Clamen's light, free, impressionist style and his use of colour gives a vivacity and movement to the composition. A little jewel of a painting.
