French Impressionist watercolour on paper view of a mountain chalet in a landscape by Henri Clamen. The painting is signed bottom right.
A charming view of a mountain chalet its characteristic wood verandas and shingle rooves. In front a small blue hand cart. Snaking past the chalet a road leads up to a church the tower of which is just visible in the distance. The trees are in blossom so it probably represents spring time when all the snow of winter has melted away.
The artist has created a wonderful perspective. Clamen's light, free, impressionist style and his use of colour gives a vivacity and movement to the composition. A little jewel of a painting.
