French Impressionist watercolour on paper view of a colourful village, spanning a river and mountain landscape by Henri Clamen. The painting is unsigned but was acquired from the artists atelier with other signed works.
A charming view of a village on each side of a river with an old stone bridge spanning the two halves. The terracotta roof tiles contrasting with the surrounding trees and hillsides. Trees with their colourful foliage and towering over it all a majestic mountain. The artist has created a wonderful perspective. Clamen's light, free, impressionist style and his use of colour gives a vivacity and movement to the composition. A little jewel of a painting.
