Ippolito Caffi (Belluno 1809 – Lissa 1866), Piazza Colonna
Acquarello su carta di cm 21 x 28 firmato in basso a sinistra, sul retro è presente l’iscrizione “Roma Piazza Colonna circa 1840 acquarello di Ippolito Caffi 1809 – 1866”.
Si tratta di una rarissima veduta di Piazza Colonna dove è rappresentato Palazzo Wedekind prima dell’ultima ristrutturazione del 1879 quando fu posto sull’attico sovrastante la facciata l’orologio attuale, che ne andò a sostituire i due precedenti, diurni e notturni, che segnavano le ore all’uso italiano e francese.
