About the Item
‘Walkers on Kilve Beach’ is a watercolour diptych on 2 sheets of Arches watercolour paper. It was painted ‘en plein air’ – out of doors, in front of the subject.
The artist Lisa Takahashi recently moved to rural Somerset and has been inspired to paint the local scenery since her arrival.
For this painting she sat atop a picnic table to paint the view. The weather was blustery, and everything was weighted down by heavy stones.
Lisa Takahashi has previously exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the New English Art Club, The Royal Society of Watercolourists, the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and the Royal Society of British Artists. This autumn she will exhibit with the Society of Women Artists.
A love of colour, shape and pattern inspires her to make paintings and prints that respond to the work around her.
