About the Item
Evocative abstract landscape by Martin Kallman (American, 1925-1992). This piece has large sections of light and shadow that overlap each other, as if composed of several layered scenes. The main area of focus is the frozen lake in the foreground, rendered in light tones to stand out from the rest of the composition.
Titled and signed on tag attached to verso.
Presented in a wood frame with a new grey mat.
Paper size: 29"W x 24.75H
Martin Kallman (American, 1925-1992) was born on September 23, 1925 in New York. He worked for Raymond Loewy (of Studebaker, Avanti fame) in the Graphics Department in his earlier days, and for Ford Motor Company, and the Detroit School District before retiring in 1979 to Seal Rock, Oregon, where he continued to paint.
Some of his work is hanging in the Yaquina River Museum in Toledo, Oregon.
He passed away in 1992.
