About the Item
P. G. Sirur was an renowned painter and illustrator who lived and worked in Bombay. His paintings are characterized by effective drawing, in-depth study of anthropomorphism, dexterity of expression and thematic environment. He was a great artist who created in a realistic style. His realistic style of painting includes portraits, illustrations, landscapes, comic books and magazine covers and stories.
He was well known in Maharashtra for his cover pages for Stree magazine (1936 to 1965) and Amar Chitra Katha comic books.
The Saraswat Mahila Samaj was grateful to P G Sirur for the painting of Saraswat kitchen on the front cover done by him free of charge for the first Marathi edition of Rasachandrika published in 1943.
