Description: This atmospheric watercolour depicts a quiet village street in Buoux, a hilltop settlement in the Luberon region of Provence. The composition focuses on a narrow stone-lined passage, flanked by tall, tightly packed buildings whose weathered façades convey age and character. Arched doorways, shuttered windows, and irregular masonry are rendered with expressive ink line, while warm ochres and cool greys describe the play of light and shadow across the stone surfaces.
Pierre Neveu’s confident handling of watercolour allows washes to bleed and settle naturally, creating depth and texture without over-definition. The muted blue sky above contrasts with the earthy palette of the architecture, enhancing the sense of enclosed space and calm stillness typical of Provençal village streets.
