Description: A delicate and atmospheric French village scene by Pierre Neveu, capturing the charm of a provincial street crowned by a tall church spire. Executed in fluid watercolour on textured paper, this work titled Tour et maisons (Tower and Houses) reflects Neveu’s mastery of architectural composition and tonal balance. The central steeple rises gracefully above slate rooftops and sunlit walls, framed by patches of green foliage and the soft movement of passing clouds. Neveu’s loose, expressive brushwork conveys both structure and spontaneity—the essence of the Post-Impressionist approach. His restrained yet vivid palette, combining cool greys, earthy ochres, and flashes of cerulean blue, evokes the shifting light of a quiet afternoon in rural France.
