Description: An elegant architectural study titled “Fontasse” by Pierre Neveu (French, b. 1929), depicting a domed church and surrounding square under a vast blue sky. Neveu’s precision linework, underpinned by his architectural training at the École Boulle, combines with fluid washes of lilac, ochre, and ultramarine to evoke warmth and air.
Likely painted in southern France, the scene reflects Neveu’s interest in the balance between structure and spontaneity, capturing atmosphere through minimal yet expressive brushwork. A serene and beautifully economical example of his mid-century plein air technique.
