Description: A beautifully observed French village scene by Pierre Neveu (French, b. 1929), depicting a cluster of sunlit houses and terracotta rooftops beneath a vivid blue sky. The piece captures the distinctive charm of southern French architecture — whitewashed façades, narrow lanes, and tiled rooftops rendered with airy precision.
Neveu’s background as a draughtsman and architectural artist is evident in the clarity of perspective and the balance between form and spontaneity. Loose washes and expressive lines merge to evoke both the structure and the light of the Mediterranean environment.
Educated at the École Boulle and later a Professor of Drawing for the City of Paris, Neveu’s work reflects the mid-century French emphasis on modern design, atmosphere, and harmony of colour.

Pierre Neveu was born in Paris. He was a professor of Drawing.
