Description: An expressive and sunlit figure study on a French terrace by Pierre Neveu (b.1929), capturing the serenity of afternoon light beneath vibrant yellow parasols. The scene shows a seated woman absorbed in sketching or reading, her figure cast in dappled shadow beneath the canopy — a fleeting moment of domestic calm rendered with fluid, modern sensitivity.
Neveu’s mastery of light and structure is immediately apparent: the strong geometry of the parasols anchors the composition, while transparent washes of yellow, green, and violet-blue convey warmth and intimacy.
