Description: A delicate and atmospheric French landscape by Pierre Neveu (b.1929), inscribed Le Louroux Bottereau — a commune in the Loire-Atlantique region near Nantes. The composition depicts a series of sunlit houses and farm buildings set against expansive skies and textured fields, likely inspired by the agricultural scenery of western France.
Neveu’s masterful watercolour technique combines architectural precision with painterly looseness. Transparent washes of ochre, sage, and violet-grey convey the structure of the land, while the visible graphite grid lines beneath reveal the artist’s considered approach to composition and balance. The piece captures both immediacy and control — a hallmark of Neveu’s style.
Educated at the École Boulle and École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Neveu received the Gold Medal at the Salon des Artistes Français (1994). His works often explore the relationship between light, geometry, and the quiet poetry of rural France.

Pierre Neveu was born in Paris. He was a professor of Drawing.
