Description: Pierre Neveu’s Sablet depicts the quintessential Provençal village bathed in summer light. Terracotta roofs and whitewashed walls rise amid cypress trees under an expansive azure sky. The village of Sablet, in Vaucluse near Mont Ventoux, is known for its vineyards and ochre architecture. Neveu’s energetic linework and colour layering express its warm rhythms with grace and immediacy.
A graduate of Paris’s École Boulle and the Beaux-Arts, Neveu merged academic structure with modern colour abstraction. Here his economical brush marks and gouache accents capture sunlight flickering on stone walls. The result is both architectural and lyrical — a study of form, shadow, and atmosphere typical of his mid-century style.
