Description: A charming Provençal landscape study by French Post Impressionist painter Pierre Neveu, inscribed with the location Sablet, a picturesque wine village in the Vaucluse region of southern France. Known for its terraced vineyards, ochre-toned houses and views toward the Dentelles de Montmirail, Sablet has long inspired artists drawn to its warm light and rural architecture. Neveu captures this atmosphere with a cluster of traditional farmhouses, each topped with vivid orange-red tiled roofs that glow against the cool greens and blues of the surrounding countryside.
In the foreground, neat rows of vineyard plantings stretch across the land in rhythmic purple and green strokes, immediately identifying the scene as Provence wine country. Pine trees and dense vegetation frame the buildings, while soft rolling hills fade into the distance under a clear Mediterranean sky. Neveu’s characteristic combination of fluid washes and precise ink drawing brings brightness and immediacy to the composition, suggesting it was painted en plein air during a visit to the region.
Collectors of Provençal landscapes, vineyard scenes, and French rural architecture will appreciate the authenticity and location specificity of this piece. Unframed and ready for bespoke mounting, this work offers a vivid window into the charm of Sablet and the sunlit landscapes of southern France.

Trees in a French Country Landscape. Watercolor.
Located in Cotignac, FR
A French watercolour on paper landscape by Roger Decaux. The work is signed and dated (as yet undeciphered) bottom right. Presented in a wood frame with cut card mount.
A fresh and charming view of trees in a landscape. Decaux has used simple, fluid but strong strokes for this composition. One can feel the influence of 'abstraction of form' that was a part of his later work. The eye is drawn from the trees to the surrounding fields, the touches of colour to the right and then to the silhouette of the hills beyond. The use of watercolour at its best.
Roger DECAUX was born in 1919 in Dombasle sur Meurthe in the Lorraine. He studied art in Paris with Gino Severini and Jan Brusselmans...
