Description: In this sun-filled study of Sablet, Pierre Neveu captures the golden roofs and church spire that dominate the Provençal skyline. Loose brushwork and layered washes of gouache reveal his mastery of colour harmony and light. Warm ochres meet cool blues to convey the distinctive southern clarity that defined mid-century French landscape painting.
Neveu’s architectural training shows in the balanced composition of rooftops and trees, while his immediacy of gesture reflects the tradition of plein-air modernists. The result is a work that feels both structured and alive — a snapshot of Provençal light and quiet village life.
