Description: This expressive figurative study by Pierre Neveu presents a young woman seated among flowers and interior objects, rendered in the artist’s characteristic combination of delicate linework and fluid colour washes. Neveu’s figurative works are increasingly sought after, and this example captures his sensitivity to gesture and mood.
The central figure, dressed in a softly painted blue blouse with an ornate green and gold necklace, appears contemplative, her gaze turned slightly to the right. Neveu uses a muted lavender tone for her skin, giving the portrait an atmospheric, almost dreamlike quality. Her long hair, loosely defined with brown washes and fine pencil, frames the face and anchors the composition.
Around her, the interior space unfolds in layered, semi-abstract forms — silhouetted figures, glimpses of architecture, and colourful floral arrangements. The left side of the painting is filled with warm reds, greens, and ochres from a vase of flowers, while cooler blue and black tones balance the right side.
