Description: This expressive coastal landscape by French Post-Impressionist painter Pierre Neveu depicts the harbour at Tréguier, a historic port town in Brittany known for its tidal riverbanks, fishing boats and distinctive Breton architecture. Neveu has inscribed the work “Treguier” at the lower right, confirming the location and adding valuable provenance and search relevance for collectors of French regional art.
The painting captures a classic Breton low-tide scene: small working boats resting on exposed sand and seaweed beds, their hulls angled and partially grounded as the tide recedes. Neveu’s fluid linework and bold colour choices — deep navy blues, bright ochres, warm browns and cool purples — convey both the rugged coastal environment and the lively character of Tréguier’s maritime culture.
Behind the boats, clusters of trees and greenery lead toward a collection of whitewashed houses topped with slate-blue roofs, a hallmark of Northern French coastal villages.
