Michele Falanga nasce nel 1865 a Bagnara Calabra (RC).
Nel 1879 si trasferisce con la madre a Messina. Il disastroso terremoto che colpisce la città nel 1908 lo coinvolge in prima persona. La sua cultura e la conoscenza approfondita delle dinamiche della città, lo spingono a dedicarsi in maniera quasi spasmodica alla scrittura; crea testi in prosa, poesie e poemetti. Viene più volte chiamato a redigere articoli riguardanti avvenimenti politici e sociali per periodici dell’epoca.
Lo scoppio della Prima guerra mondiale lo trascina nella propaganda bellica, facendolo partecipare in prima persona a manifestazioni patriottiche. Influenzato dal regime autoritario fascista, si cimenta nell’arte visiva dagli anni Venti fino alla sua morte.
