About the Item
833 CLE Series: Red Bridge w/Car.
Contemporary artist Thomas Roese, inspired by the industrial landscape of steel mills, rail yards, architectural details, and the urban neighborhoods surrounding him, created a series of realist drawings in a grand scale format. The details in each piece challenge us to stand back and enjoy the big view – this piece stands up well from a distance and pulls you into the details up close. This impressive mixed media works-on-paper was made using acrylic paint, graphite, and colored pencil on acid-free paper in 2017. “Red Bridge w/Car” is signed and dated in the lower right and on the verso (see images). The paper size is 29 x 22 inches.
Since graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1971, Mr. Roese has been busy making his career as an artist and art educator. Since 1973 he has taught Drawing in the Continuing Education Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art and is a high school art teacher and department chair in Parma City, Ohio. Roese was recognized as an outstanding art teacher and invited to participate in the AICA New York Summer Studio Program. His work is in the Cleveland Museum of Art and the American Embassy in Stockholm as well as numerous corporate art collections. He has served on the board of The Print Club of Cleveland and Artists Archives of the Western Reserve.
