Mid Twentieth Century Impressionist Watercolour of Gondolas lit by Chines Lanterns on the Grand Canal, Venice.
This is an Unsigned (to the best of my knowledge, I have searched with magnifying glass for a signature or monogram) Watercolour Painting, on Paper and Mounted and presented Framed with a backing board. There is an historical label on the backing board from Frost and Reed, Bond Street Art Dealers which certainly indicated to me this was a quality painting.
I could not resist this lovely watercolour, I know it's a view we have seen many times so I am always looking for something a little different. The light from the Chinese Lanterns really elevate this painting for me, it puts me in mind of one Sargent's sketches, if I may be so bold!
The colours are fresh and it is in excellent condition, I have renewed the mount and the frame.
