About the Item
With an immediately clean and elegant impact, we already know that this drawing can be counted among the valuable range of Ademollian early graphic art for two reasons: the subject, which, repeated several times and of which other iconographic and stylistic comparisons are proposed here, effectively depicts the theme of the expulsion from the earthly paradise of the progenitors; and also the style, which reiterates in the sheets compared here, that soft and accurate of early 19th-century purism, interpreted by Ademollo in a pre-romantic and primitivist key, the mark of an outsider among the great artists of Italian Neoclassicism. Luigi Adamolli, a.k.a
Ademollo, mainly found his space of commissioning, between public and private, sacred and profane, in the composing of a taste in fieri between still late eighteenth-century solicitations and the establishment of neoclassical taste, in his case several times extended to pre-romantic forays.
The sheet presented here offers a delicate overview of Ademollian aesthetics from a sacred perspective by illustrating Adam and Eve caught in the moment of the rebuke they received from god the father followed by their inevitable expulsion from the earthly paradise.
