About the Item
"Nude with green accents" is an original gouache and ink drawing by celebrated, twentieth-century California impressionist landscape painter, Ronald Shap. Nude woman turning her back in green, red and brown. 24x18 inches on paper. Signed.
Of note: although it is the nature of gouache painting to produce a surface that is uneven due to the amount of water added during the creative process, we do note that this paper seems to be especially uneven. Crease above head and a smudge to the right of the head. There is also a creased corner that should be invisible when matted and framed. Please review final three photos.
Ronald Shap was born in Toledo, OH and lived most of his life in California. The brother of acclaimed portrait artist Sylvia Shap, he was a scholarship award graduate at the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1964 and completed graduate study in painting at the University of Nebraska and Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1967. He was a visiting artist and instructor at BGSU in 1973-74 and worked out of his Los Angeles studio and taught drawing and anatomy at Citrus College until his retirement in 2005.
