This is a rare, original Post-war illustration drawing, hand-painted with gouache on Arches Velin paper by French artist C. Villars (France, 20th Century). The poster project features a young woman in a bikini swimsuit sitting on a globe. She holds a toy in the shape of an airplane on the end of a string. In the background of the terrestrial globe, the connections between France and the countries of South America are guessed—an imaginative nod to the golden age of air travel.. The drawing was created for a company named STAR, an airline. The illustration is signed C. Villars in the bottom left corner.
This image was likely later printed in a larger size for advertising posters, but it is the original painting by the poster designer.
The drawing is framed in a modern black wood frame with a silver accent and an off-white matte finish, protected by glass.
