'Infanta Primavera' features the face of a young woman's head with a flowering cactus in an intricately patterned and a succulent coated body. It is complex graphite drawing on Kent paper from Japanese artist Chikako Okada. 'Infanta Primavera, is a stunning drawing from Okada's Succulent series in monochrome back and white. It is professionally matted and comes to you in an archival sleeve. The drawing itself is 16 x 12 inches, The mat's outer dimension is 22 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches. *Please note that some of the drawings from this series are professionally framed in a rose gold snake skin stem frame, and this one can be framed as such for an additional $100. please inquire within. The work is beautiful on its own, or hanging with other drawings from Okada's Succulant Series featuring young women on the cusp of adulthood. Artist signed, titled, dated Verso. Condition is excellent. The original graphite drawings from Chikako Okada, like her paintings, are alluring, haunting and beautiful.
Chikako Okada’s autobiographical works of art bridge traditional realism with magical realism and surrealism. The artist uniquely addresses questions of the human condition through her meticulously detailed, and patterned imagery. The work is mesmerizing, rich in symbolism, and reference feminine power, vulnerability, sadness, longing, and desire. Often featuring adolescent girls and boys that are mysteriously posed, the artist leaves the circumstances of her subjects to the viewer's interpretation. Chikako Okada is inspired by the paintings of European masters, Mexico's Frida Kahlo, and the American surrealists.
Educated in Japan and the United States. Okada received her BS and MFA at San Francisco's Art Institute. She has exhibited internationally over a 30-year period. Her paintings and drawings are collected worldwide.
