Created in 2017 this series, Baggage Claim, speaks to the symbolic emotional weight one accumulates through life and how the accumulations weigh down the spirit. The artist used handbags to portray how his mother handled all of her 'baggage' with grace and style and was created immediately following the death of the artists Mother.
Signed "Rhonda V" in memory of the artist's mother
Steward was awarded the 2018 Cleveland Arts Prize, Emerging Artist Award. August, 2018. He has also gained notoriety nationally for his work and public outreach.
